Easy makeover

This isn't a huge transformation, nor did I do a step by step (Ooh baby, gonna get to you giiiiiiiirl... Oh oops. Sorry for the NKOTB interruption) DIY instruction for this project. It's just that simple, but I wanted to highlight the ease of giving a piece of furniture or a cabinet a whole new lease on life with just a fresh coat of paint.

The first victim in the new house? The orange-y oak (and beat up) vanity in our small 1/2 bath on our first floor.

It's hard to tell in this pic, but the mirror above the vanity is actually black and that's what gave me the idea to give the vanity a face lift!

So I bought a quart of "Kettle Black" by Valspar and gave the vanity 2 coats of Kilz primer and 2 good coats of paint, along with spray painting the brass hinges (that are visible from the outside of the cabinet) with Satin Nickel spray paint (LOVE that stuff!).

What do you think?

I may add some knobs to the doors as well, but haven't decided yet. 

In case you're wondering, here's the other side of the bathroom. Black framed scrapbook paper, and a black basket (that was brown in it's former life!) on top of the toilet. Ahhh, harmony!
